I scanned this morning and MBAM shows 3 infections of Backdoor.bot. I read another thread that said this was a FP and would be fixed in the next update. I updated the database this morning before I ran the scan. So is this a FP or not? I ignored it for the time being... Log file is attached.

The first 2 files are because you have not cleared and reset your System Restore points.

The last one is a False Positive and should be fixed now. Current defs are 1790 not 1785

First let's reset your System Restore points.

Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Turn off System Restore

  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Reboot.

Turn ON System Restore

  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Then UPDATE MBAM and scan again and it should come back clean this time.
