Possible infection, need help confirming

The computer is (and always has been) running fine and we haven't noticed any obvious problems commonly associated with malware - no popups, no browser redirects, etc. However, we installed Malwarebytes this morning as a preventative measure, and it found one item (which we allowed it to clean up) called '696A.tmp'. The file was 0 bytes and was supposedly created/modified on February 22nd of this year.

Here's the DDS.txt file, and I'll attach the Attach.txt file as well. Thanks in advance for any help!

For Vista or Windows 7, do a right-click on the program, select Run as Administrator to start, & when prompted Allow to run.

Click Scan to scan the system.

When the scan completes > Close out the program > Don't Fix anything!

Thank you for your help with this so far. The computer is running completely fine. We had no reason whatsoever to suspect any problems before installing and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware this morning, when it found that temp file (0 bytes) and called it a Trojan.Agent. Since we do use this computer for banking, shopping, etc., I wanted to make certain everything was clean.

So it looks good to you? Is there anything else I ought to do just to be sure?

I should add that this computer's attack surface is quite small. It's always 100% up-to-date, firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials are both enabled, Firefox is the default browser and we use the NoScript extension, and we know better than to go clicking email links or opening attachments we weren't expecting. We're not downloaders and don't visit dodgy websites. I'd have been fairly surprised to find anything on this machine, but the stakes seem kind of high to just ignore when a security program finds a potential threat.

Great thumbsup.gif

Lets check your computers security before you go and we have a little cleanup to do also:

Download Security Check by screen317 from HERE or HERE.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Looks like things aren't quite as updated as I thought (Security Check log below). I'll go update Flash and Java as soon as we're done here. Firefox is being reported as 15.0 below but it's actually the recent 15.0.1 update.

In terms of cleanup, do you just mean to delete all the EXEs and logfiles we've generated?

Thanks again!

Java™ 6 Update 31 <---uninstall from add/remove programs

Java version out of Date! <---download and install the latest version

Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.271 Flash Player out of Date! <----please update

You have out dated programs on the system which are vulnerable to malware.

Please update or delete them

Info on doing that can be found in my Preventive Maintenance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little clean up to do....
Please Uninstall ComboFix: (if you used it)
Press the Windows logo key + R to bring up the "run box"
Copy and paste next command in the field:
ComboFix /uninstall
Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
cf2.jpg
Then hit enter.
This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and clears System Restore cache and create new Restore point
(If that doesn't work.....you can simply rename ComboFix.exe to Uninstall.exe and double click it to complete the uninstall)
---------------------------------
Please download OTL from one of the links below: (you may already have OTL on the system)
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.com
http://www.itxassoci...T-Tools/OTL.exe
Save it to your desktop.
Run OTL and hit the CleanUp button. (This will cleanup the tools and logs used including itself)
Any other programs or logs you can manually delete.
IE: RogueKiller.exe, RKreport.txt, RK_Quarantine folder, C:\FRST, etc....
-------------------------------
Any questions...please post back.
If you think I've helped you, please leave a comment > click on my avatar picture > click Profile Feed.
Take a look at My Preventive Maintenance to avoid being infected again.
Good Luck and Thanks for using the forum, MrC
