Hi I'm an old guy (63) and new to malware of any kind. So here's the skinny: My machine was acting goofy so I bought the 22 dollar version. It worked (I guess) for about 2 weeks. Then I noticed the tray icon was grey instead of the usual red. Somethings up. So, I checked and was told to go to some link and download a dds file and run it on my computer and use note pad and not word and send it back so they could gather some more informatiion. Are you getting the drift? Are you kidding me. In the words of the NFL analyists "come on man". Listen, youze guys sold me this stuff so you need to give me a solution I can understand. BY the way, I restored my computer to an earlier date and everything seems to be working now. Go figure. Don't know how long it's going to last, we'll see. Are you sure the guys that write the anti malware program are'nt the same guys that write the malware so they can sell you the antimalware program? Seriously though, if anyone has a real solution please put it out there cause I know I'm not the only one. Thanks

Hello, DonOne: :)

Welcome.

Sorry you are having problems with the protection module.

It may have something to do with the fact that you recently used system restore:

BY the way, I restored my computer to an earlier date and everything seems to be working now

Doing so is known to cause corruption -- at least of the definitions database -- of most, if not all, security programs.

Rather than piggy-backing onto this "meet and greet" chat topic in the informal chat section, please start a NEW topic in the General section >>HERE<<.

That way, your problem can receive the full attention of the experienced forum members, experts and MBAM staff. :)

In the interim, this very recent post by the forum Admin, AdvancedSetup, explains things in a bit of detail, including why the scan logs are needed to diagnose and resolve your issue: http://forums.malwar...ndpost&p=597075

Alternatively, if you are not comfortable posting the logs in the forum, then you may contact the helpdesk directly for one-on-one, free, expert help.

They can be reached >>HERE<<.

As AdvancedSetup explained, there are many causes for some of these problems experienced by a very small minority of users.

Each computer is different, so the experts will need some basic info about your system in order to help you.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Your post is complete nosense. You must understand that there is no fool proof way to detect all malware that exists. Please research the subject before making such claims. It is not possible to have a single solution to fix all malware issues. Malware is released by the thousands every day with new breeds all the time using different methods.
