Are you getting any errors when you try the update?

I was getting a couple of errors and I realized I didn't save them. Program_error_updating (0, 0, I/O error) was one and I think another was a timeout error.

It all started with my wife saying she couldn't get on the Internet. Couldn't go anywhere and the computer was really slow. I have her account locked down so she can't install anything....but it seemed like something was there. First night I came home, logged in as Admin and tried to update Malwarebytes and it gave the errors. I also noticed that the status % for the update download was growing at first and then stopped. I even saw it one time go from 28% completed to 2% completed.....like it was deleted and had to start over. I started reading the FAQs and then tused mbam-clean to remove it completely and then try to do a fresh install. The clean took a LONG time...but eventually completed. I then re-installed MB and it took a LONG time to install. When it tried to do the update....same issues. Slow and then stopped. I tried to do the update a few more times and the update button was greyed out....not clickable. I knew that the virus was still present. Next day she called me and said.....it seems fine today. She still couldn't do an update so I figured...."Yeah right." When i got home, I used the clean program again and it finished super fast. I then installed MB (using the previous download of the installation file) and it installed quick and then did the update really quick. I ran a full scan and it came up empty....nothing detected.

Now tell me.....do you think I even had a virus at all? All very strange to me and I am still not convinced my PC is clean.
