Is this a problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New to forum and hoping someone can help me with this.

While on the internet I clicked to go to a page. The computer froze up (Sony Vaio) and I was not able to do anything so only choice was to turn off and back on. Upon it coming backon I had a popup that said it was from AVG with a serious threat for programs/sony/vaio/firstexperience/miniprogram.exe ...this is pretty much what it read. AVG gave me an option to quarantine it or to leave it as is. Not being sure if it was a trick to get me to click it I did a lot of internet searching. The computer was still working with no problems while the popup from apparently AVG and computer was working just fine. I searched the net only to not be able to find out what the sony vaio first experience was.

Bottom line is I did click quarantine and AVG did and put it in the vault where I left it.

I printed the sceen so I would have the information and part of it reads after the quarantine:

All registry keys deleted:

hkey_local_machine/software/wow6432\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\

Need to edit because I hit enter before completing. the rest of the info reads as

launcherrequestedprograms

I have not restarted computer or tuned it off after the quarantine of avg's.

I am wondering if I do, will the computer have problems since it says the registry key was deleted? I left it in the vault and can un-quarantine it.

My thinking is because of the reboot due to computer locking up that for some reason a program did not reboot correctly and AVG saw it as a threat and provided the popup.

Any know if this will be a problem or had this happen?

I am leaving computer on for now until I know it is safe to reboot.

Thank you for any input or your thoughts.
