Password not working, cannot get in through safemode.

Hi there every one.

A friend suggested I join this forum, for several reasons, one being that some one may be able to help me with my current problem.

I have a password on my laptop (HP/using Windows 7 Home Edition) to keep the kiddo out. At around 1am I was on the laptop with no issues. Attempted to get on this morning and my password is not being accepted. Telling me username or password is incorrect. I tried every thing......cap locks on/off......num locks on/off........blank entry, password in different variations. You name it.

Attempted to get through safemode. No matter which way I went there, asked for the password.

Tried to restore to a previous date. No matter the date selected, it could not do it.

I am attempting to back up my files yet the first disc burned is nothing but a bunch of numbers. No files of any kind.

*sigh*

I am at a complete standstill. I am afraid to restore back to factory settings, at this point, for fear of losing all I have.

Can any one offer any assistance with this??

It would be GREATLY appreciate. Also, if there is already a thread on this particular topic/issue, I apologize for repeating but I did not see one.

I would try double-checking the scroll lock key or shift/alt keys as needed almost certainly some key configuration blocking it.

If that does not work then there are tools to change the password from a bootable disk
