MrCharlie Posted September 4, 2012 ID:593310 Share Posted September 4, 2012 Still slow and grinding,There's nothing more I can do for you, if the computer is slower than it was when it was new...I suggest you reinstalled the operating system and start fresh. (I'm in the process of doing that myself.)I deal in helping people remove malware from their computers.Slow computers are due to a number of reasons not related to malware. If it never was fast > think about a new faster computer.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~babylon still there. If you want to continue trying to remove this...let me know.In what browser does it appear, MrC
MissElaine12 Posted September 4, 2012 Author ID:593318 Share Posted September 4, 2012 I'm concerned about the slowness and grinding because they started suddenly last week after I opened a website. My computer started acting funny right after I clicked on the link for the site, so I closed the browser immediately, but then the grinding started and my computer slowed way down. The grinding happens in a cycle - it will be noisy for a while, then be quiet for a minute or so, then start grinding again. It was fast enough for me before then. If there's no sign of malware, that's good, I guess...though I would like to know what's causing the problem. Please feel free to refer me elsewhere if you still think there's nothing else you can do, or if you're just tired of me. I'd understand since you've spent so much time trying to help.As for babylon, I'll continue trying to find a way to get rid of it on my own.
MrCharlie Posted September 4, 2012 ID:593323 Share Posted September 4, 2012 Your talking about an actually grinding noise coming form the computer?MrC
MissElaine12 Posted September 4, 2012 Author ID:593331 Share Posted September 4, 2012 It's the noise I hear when my computer is "thinking." I called it "grinding" for lack of a better word. (Is there one?) Prior to last week, it came and went depending on if my computer was working or idle, but now it's constant.
MrCharlie Posted September 4, 2012 ID:593334 Share Posted September 4, 2012 That sounds like it's a cooling fan that's going bad. There's one for the CPU, one for the power supply and you could have a case cooling fan and one for your video card. You most likely only have 2 though, MrC
MissElaine12 Posted September 4, 2012 Author ID:593336 Share Posted September 4, 2012 I'll look into it. Thank you very much for your time.
