Thunderbird and malware

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am new to the forum and hope to ask my question at the right place.

Since several days I get MWB warnings that are linked to IP 213.186.33.87 , Thunderbird, and the port 51363.

In several posts here and on the web I learned that this IP is administered by OVH, a French provider with tumultous relations with MWB.

Before these warnings I did a full scan when I installed MWB and found no threat.

What should I do ? What does the warning tell me ?

TIA,

ftr

Hello and welcome to MBAM forum, ftr: :)

It sounds as if you've got something infected in your email client (or perhaps an extension that's phoning home)?

I've used MBAM and TB for years and have never seen any sort of MBAM IP block from TB.

--> FYI There is much more information about the IP blocking module in the FAQ - Section G (and in the Helpdesk topics HERE and HERE).

It would probably be a good idea to have a qualified malware expert take a peek under the hood to see if you are infected.

We cannot work on malware removal in this sub-section of the forum, so please read below for assistance with cleaning your system.

IMPORTANT: Please do NOT use any temporary file cleaners unless instructed to do so - they can cause data loss, making recovery difficult.

  • Doing so may cause your topic to be overlooked, as it will appear that you are already being helped.

If you are a paid user of MBAM PRO and would like support via the helpdesk, please contact them here.

OPTION 3:

If you prefer the Malwarebytes Premium Services (comprehensive solutions to all your computer support needs – from installation and set-up to troubleshooting and tune-ups), please go to the Premium Support site here.

Please be patient – someone will assist you as soon as possible.

Thank you very much,
