mikispiki Posted August 15, 2012 ID:585540 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Hello, shortly after turning on my laptop, MBAM alerted an IP block204.160.98.253 (Type: outgoing, Port: 49244, Process: svchost.exe)I was a bit alarmed at the process, however shortly after i got 204.160.98.253 (Type: outgoing, Port: 49563, Process: avwebgrd.exe)I only posted here, because svchost is usually associated with windows updates, and yes , today i had windows updates.I was on the net at the time of the alert, so maybe its nothing to do with updates.I scanned with MBAM which was clean, sorry if Im over reacting, Cheers for any advice
MysteryFCM Posted August 15, 2012 ID:585548 Share Posted August 15, 2012 It's not an F/P I'm afraid, and due to what it is known for (DOS attacks), it is likely your machine is part of a botnet, and as such, I'd urge you have your computer checked for infection.I'm infected - What do I do now?http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=9573
mikispiki Posted August 15, 2012 Author ID:585593 Share Posted August 15, 2012 it is likely your machine is part of a botnet, Thanks for the reply, however I do not think my computer is part of a botnet. I had the machine into the shop recently, to have anew keyboard fitted. Unless one of the staff has been using the machine, I doubt its infected. I will heed your advice and post on the infected forum. Thanks
