Strange Behaviour, Affiliate.Downloader found

Hello all,

I'll try to be brief and clear: Today I was working from home with multiple windows open. One such window was a Gchat window as I was chatting with someone. I was cleaning my keyboard with a cloth prior to this, but when I sat back down at my computer, there was typing going on in the Gchat text window. At first it was a bit of gibberish, then it was backspaced, and replaced with BABAR (something I'd Googled at some point in the past). Immediately after this, a window opened up to some website that lists famous quotes (which I had probably done a search for some time ago during the school year for a college paper).

Of course, I just sat there, eyes wide. Nothing else happened. Anyway, I did an immediate scan with AVG and it found nothing. I found mention of your software, so I tried it out and lo and behold, the following report...

Thanks in advance,

Registry Helper is a fake computer protection tool which enters the system with the help of trojan horse. Once installed, it can imitate computer scans and displays rogue security threats to trick users into purchasing illegal version of the application. So don’take action on these warning.

-----------------------------------------

Please Update and run a Quick Scan with MBAM, post the report.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

Scan says all clear now.

Does the Registry Helper cause the 'ghost typing' issue? I'd just like to know for peace of mind.

Thanks.

Great thumbsup.gif

A little clean up to do....

Please Uninstall ComboFix: (if you used it)

Press the Windows logo key + R to bring up the "run box"

Copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /uninstall

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /

cf2.jpg

Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and clears System Restore cache and create new Restore point

(If that doesn't work.....you can simply rename ComboFix.exe to Uninstall.exe and double click it to complete the uninstall)

---------------------------------

Please download OTL from one of the links below: (you may already have OTL on the system)

http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe

http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.com

http://www.itxassoci...T-Tools/OTL.exe

Save it to your desktop.

Run OTL and hit the CleanUp button. (This will cleanup the tools and logs used including itself)

Any other programs or logs you can manually delete.

IE: RogueKiller.exe, RKreport.txt, RK_Quarantine folder, etc....

Any questions...please post back.
