Static IP : Why?

Hi friends.

My provider has an "offer" to enabling Staic IP on paying now with 7euros per month. I have no idea about this, which is the difference between this and Dynamic IP (it is supposed I have dynamic IP now), if this is safer or what else...

In other words, is there any reason to get a static IP?

I would be grateful if you could help me learn about.

Using a static IP means that it will never change. Dynamic means that from time to time your IP may change from your provider.

Pros and Cons either way you look at it.

If you want to run a server from home or want to remotely access it from afar then a static IP can make it easier (though there are methods to do it without a static IP)

Website tracking always knows who you are because your IP will always be the same (though often users with Dynamic may still hold onto their IP for a year or more)

If you're not certain and don't have a specific need for it right now I'd opt to save the 7 Euros for now and if you ever do decide you want or need a static IP your provider will be happy to sell it to you later on.
