Malwarebytes wont open...at all....

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a repost or if someone else has already posted a topic on this issue, if so, just point me in the direction I need to go to solve this matter. Last night I must have went to a malicious website, I clicked on a link and instantly my comp began to make all kinds of crazy "crackling" noises and then the screen went white. I tried to exit out and nothing happened, soon after a message popped up saying "This program is not responding, do you wish to end now?"...I exited and straight to my Malwarebytes to do a complete scan, but it wouldn't open. The only thing that opens is avg and I have already ran a complete scan on there and it says my comp is fine. Sometimes I can't even get web pages to open, it just go white, and sometimes the page will load but it will look messed up. I unistalled Malwarebytes and tried to reinstalled it and but it wouldn't "run". I renamed it and finally it went through but it still will not open. I even looked in my program files to rename the .exe file (read that in a forum somewhere) but I don't even see it, I see the Malwarebytes folder, even opened it, but I don't see a file in there with .exe most are dll files. I tried the safe mode thing too, and still no go. I hope someone can help. I heard that some viruses will disable your software, which I'm guessing it could be the case here.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes.org

If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve.

  1. Please read and follow the instructions provided here: I'm infected - What do I do now?
  2. If needed please post your logs in a NEW topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs
  3. When posting logs please do not use any Quote, Code, or other tags. Please copy/paste directly into your post and do not attach files unless requested.
  • Please do not post any logs in the General forum. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum.
  • Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you.
  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.
  • If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.

The answer Sanad is right there in the 3rd post. i.e. Please post a new topic in the HJT forum and someone will help you.

Please be patient as the board is quite busy and there are only so many volunteers available to assist everyone.

If you have a paid version of MBAM then you can contact the Helpdesk for further assistance if you like or we can help you in the forums, it's up to you.

Well I never did get it resolved, I ended up doing a system recovery on my computer. I asked for help in the HJT forums, but no one replied. What ever the virus was it totally disabled everything on my comp, somehow a friend of mine got the system recovery to work. Heck I couldn't even post anything in here! The virus was stopping my means of communication, I had to use my daughters computer in the other room to send messages and such!

have u went to regedit to delete the left over after u uninstall MBAM(becoz windows add/remove program can't be trusted, its outdated like NES)...

u can try revo unistaller, it can't scan the leftover registry after u uninstall any program but there's a malware in ur pc so still u've to...

regedit>edit>find>type in malwarebytes & then click find next & delete only the highlighted registry item & then click find next again & again & again until u take out all the malwarebytes registry, then u can try to install MBAM, hope it work...
