Increasing number of programs will not connect to internet.

Recommended Posts

Disclaimer: I do not have the full, paid for version of MBAM, but will be paying for it as soon as this issue is sorted, I say after because if I cannot resolve the problem I will have to run a full system wipe and am unsure on if I will have to pay again or how easy it will be to get the paid support back.

Ok, I'll start from the beggining, a few weeks ago I contracted a virus, it masquerades as an update to Firefox (though it doesn't ask for permission to update, just tells me that an update is being applied), it then stops several programs from connecting to the internet and stops me from using any web browser. So I can't update MBAM and even when doing a full scan it can't find whatever virus is there.

A system Restore seems to delay it, I can then use firefox again (no other web browser will work) at least but it looks as though it's been in my system for a while now, it keeps on coming back (I'm 95% sure I'm not just finding it again) and I still cannot update MBAM through use of the actual program. I tried reinstalling but I'm not sure it worked. My computer now has a tendancy to freeze if I put it through anything too strenuous.

When trying to update via the program it tries to load and then becomes unresponsive.

Is there any way to update MBAM in a more manual fashion or is this virus known of, with an easy fix?

As for the dds For some reason my computer recognised it as an autoCAD program so when I try to open it it opens notepad, but full of gibberish. If I save the file it comes out as a .scr file which, when I try to attach it comes up with "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file.", tried to change the file type, wouldn't let me.
