MBAM crashes (and closes) by itself

Recommended Posts

Folks, I picked up a trojan earlier today so I ran MBAM and it detected 4 infections when suddenly at the 3min scanning mark it crashed and closed by itself. Ran MBAM again and after it detected 2 infections I canceled the scan just before the 3min (crash) mark. I then deleted the infections in quarantine.

Thinking there are at least 2 more infections that still need to be fixed I ran MBAM over and over but it couldn't find any more infections and it always kept crashing either at 3 or 5 min mark or shortly after it begins "scanning additional items".

Next I tried the varoius recommended work arounds from the forum but still no luck, MBAM crashes and closes by itself. I've done the following up to this point-

- Run MBAM on safe mode - failed

- Modified Mcafee Viruscan Enterprise settings as specified and re-ran MBAM - failed

- Performed disk check and re-ran MBAM - failed

- Performed disk clean up and re-ran MBAM - failed

- Performed defrag and re-ran MBAM - failed

- Performed targeted scan using Mcafee Viruscan Enterprise - nothing detected

- Performed Spybot scan - nothing detected

What do you recommend I do next?

Greetings and welcome :)

Please try the options posted here, particularly those related to using Malwarebytes Chameleon.

If that is unsuccessful or your system still shows symptoms of infection or odd behaviors, then please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then create a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one on one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

If you prefer to be assisted via email you may contact Consumer Support and one of our support staff members will assist you directly.

If you are a reseller, affiliate, technician, corporate, business, educational, government or non-profit customer then please contact Corporate Support and include full contact details along with your Reference # when you do to ensure that you receive prompt assistance.

Thank you :)
