Possible Infections

Recommended Posts

I have a free copy of McAffee Security Scan Plus. All it does is confirm that my Virus & Spyware Protection is on, my Firewall Protection is on, whether or not I have McAffee Protection (which I do not) & if there are any threats detected or not. Until a couple of days ago, it has never detected any threats. It is now telling me "2 Dangerous Websites found. These websites were found to have significant risks: defendkeepercustodian.info & infectionnetscan.info." Of course, since I have not paid for McAffee, it won't remove these threats. I have run Malwarebytes on my computer, but it has found nothing. I searched my computer & could not find these files/sites. I have searched this site as well as the web & have not been able to find any information on these two files/sites. Has anyone else heard of these two files/sites? Possibly something new? Should I be worried? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Uninstall McAffee Security Scan Plus and get a free full anti-virus program

Only run one Anti-Virus at a time.

Use an AntiVirus Software - Choose only one - More than one will conflict. It is very important that your computer has anti-virus software running to protect against viruses. Update Antivirus prior to manual scans as necessary or as used. Please only choose one, having more than one can cause problems, such as crashes and your computer to slow down.

Run a full scan and let us know what it finds

I apoligize, I did not disclose all of the information you might have needed. McAffee Security Scan Plus is not the security protection I use at all times. I currently use Webroot SecureAnyware Complete for my full time protection. When I installed McAffee Security Scan Plus, it claimed that it would only "test" my security software. It does not run in the background all of the time. It is scheduled to run once a week. Just as I use Malwarebytes, I thought it would be a second check incase Webroot missed something. In the past, Malwarebytes found infections that other protection software has missed. I do know that I cannot have 2 protection services running/monitoring at the same time. I run Malwarebytes probably once a week. It takes about 10 minutes & I shut it down. McAffee Security Scan Plus only takes about 5 seconds to run & I shut it down. When I run Webroot, It does not find the files I mentioned before either.

With this being said, do you still recommend that I run one of the above programs to see what it finds?

I think you're good with what you have.

You can have more than 1 anti-malware/spyware protection running without issues other than taking up resources.

That is not the case with anti-virus and or firewalls.

You can however have us check it out.

You'll need to use our Malware Removal Forum

If you think you are infected, here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

  • Option 3 —— Premium, Fee-Based Support

OPTION 1

As we don't deal with malware removal in the
General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum
, you need to start a topic in the
Malware Removal forum
so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

    Track this topic
    and choose
    Immediate Email Notification
, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

  • One of the
there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

  • Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer such as (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.

NOTE:
Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours.

Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post.
    • If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again.

      Or
