Reactivating with correct Key

Recommended Posts

I was looking through the system and found that some systems are using the same key. Is that supposed to work like that? Should I even bother fixing it? And if I should fix it, how do I do that? Do I have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall to put a fresh License key in?

Many Thanks,

Derek

Btw, By this I mean that out of all of my friend's systems, there are some keys active on 2 at a time and I didn't want them to randomly fail at updating so I figured I should replace it with the codes that somehow got unused. Still not sure how they got on two systems at once but he's the one that set them up.

Hello and :welcome:

Far as I know on Consumer versions its one key per computer. I do not work for Malwarebytes so I can not confirm this. If you have more than one key and wish to install the separate keys on the computers follow the steps below, and use one key per computer.

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

  • Root Admin

From the included help file. You can manually change the registration key this way using an Admin account.

/register: allows the user to register the program without displaying the main dialog box.

Examples:

mbam.exe /register 12345-67890 AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDD will register the product using the license key passed in the parameters.
