topsecretrecipes.com being blocked

Recommended Posts

Hi, Rilla927: :)

Welcome to MBAM.

In fact, MBAM is actually blocking not the domain per se (topsecretrecipes.com), but rather the IP on which it is being hosted.

The site may be hosted on an IP range that also hosts "bad" sites with malicious content.

So, MBAM is likely just doing its job to protect your computer.

--> There is more information about the IP blocking module in the FAQ - Section G.

It includes instructions on how to set MBAM to ignore a particular IP, if you wish to do so.

If you think the IP blocks might be a false positive, then please read this article before starting a new topic in the False Positives forum.

HTH.

Thank you for your warm welcome and help.

I did check the link you gave for Section G and I noticed I do not have the "add to ignore list" when I right click (it's greyed out).

Hi, Rilla927:

You need to visit the site to generate the block and THEN (immediately) right click to bring up the context menu, at which time you should have the option to add it to the ignore list.

FWIW, although I think you mentioned that you are sure the site is safe, the safer thing to do first would be to start a post in the false positives section, as I mentioned earlier.

That way, if there really is malicious content, you wouldn't run the risk of infecting your system.

If it really is a FP, then the MBAM engineers will remove the IP block from the IP in question, and you won't have to bother with adding anything to the ignore list.

Just MHO as another home user, NOT a geek, :)

you would have to go into teh add to ignore list as soon as the block comes up (they dont stay in the tray icon listing for ever they eventually vanish from that list)

There is no balloon showing it is blocked at all. I just know when internet explorer gets blocked (I know what it looks like).

This is a legit site. Todd Wilber writes cookbooks.

Okay, I will post over there and see what happens.

Thanks for getting back to us, it just could have been a fluke where the site was having some issues/maintenance. After all it did take a little bit to load for me. You will not get an edit button until your post count reaches at least 50.

Should you have any further questions or comments don't hesitate to ask.

Hi, Rilla927:

Hmm.

Well that sounds as if it might not have been an MBAM IP block of the site, after all??

(Assuming that you have that feature enabled -- MBAM can be configured NOT to display the IP block popups.)

Perhaps IE was just having trouble rendering that webpage, or perhaps there was a problem with the webpage itself for a while?

In any event, I'm glad it's all working OK for you now. :)

As Firefox said, please don't hesitate to ask, if you have further questions.

PS Thanks, Firefox, for helping out while I was away from the computer! :)
