How to disable silent updates in Firefox 12

Thanks - very helpful! :)

If I understand it correctly, the only thing the new MMS does is "bypass" the UAC for Vista/7, and only if one has Fx configured to auto-update?

One can still configure Fx NOT to auto-update, in order to update manually.

And all of this is moot for XP, although the MMS does install on the XP platform anyway (the article explains why).

And apparently the MMS can simply be uninstalled from the Control Panel > Programs/Features, since it installs as a standalone program.

Cheers!

about:config

Completely disable:

app.update.auto == false

app.update.enabled == false

app.update.silent == false

Check for updates but let me choose whether to install them

app.update.auto == false

app.update.enabled == true

app.update.silent == false

@daledoc1; I've been using FF12 in betas 1-6 as well as FF12 Final and everything has been "peachy-keen".. No crashes; no memory run-away; no extension/add-on problems. Can't wait to start playing with FF13 beta; don't have the time or nerves to mess with the FF13 Aurora release (why they call it Aurora instead of Alpha I'll never know :) )
