londonlass Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53738 Share Posted February 5, 2009 I downloaded Malwarebytes this morning and did a scan of my computer. There was one highlighted registry entry which I did not know how to "remove" "isolate" and did not want to delete it. This was a malware tracking cookie so I would have thought I could have deleted it, but did not want to take the chance. I have looked at your other forum entries, but cannot find any answers there. Is there an easy "How to Use Malwarebytes" as I am not sure what to do once something is found. I was expecting Malwarebytes to disinfect, or safely remove items found so am now confused as to my next move. Thanks
yardbird Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53773 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Welcome to the forum. If its a malware tracking cookie, you can bet that its safe to remove. I believe its just tracking your URL's as you surf the net. Cookies are ok to delete, I clean them out of my pc every 2 weeks or so, as with Temporary Internet Files. If you want to post the name & where it is, One of the team members will give you more advice.
GT500 Posted February 5, 2009 ID:53774 Share Posted February 5, 2009 When you remove detected items with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it automatically saves a backup copy in it's quarantine. If there is an issue, you can restore the items from the quarantine, and everything should be OK.
