Removed virus, now screen resolution messed up

Recommended Posts

Merged post

Hi all,

I recently removed a rootkit virus using Combofix and once the log posted all icons (and the internet screen right now) are huge. I keep getting a screen resolution popup that asks if I want it reset, but when I select "yes" nothing happens. Also, when I access screen resolution through either a right click - properties on the desktop, or through control panel, I can see the scroll bar is at 640x480 but neither way will let me move the bar. How do I get all functions back to normal size and does this mean I may still have a virus?

Thanks!

I just noticed that my volume is not working and when I look at the volume info under Control Panel all the information is grey'ed out so I cannot change anything. I am assuming these issues are linked since both occured at the same time.

Thanks

As you should already know: We look for post with 0 replies, so when you replied to your own topic, we assumed you were being helped.

I merged your first bump so it would show 0 replies.

You should also already know NOT to run tools like combofix on your own.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix, or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

You should also know to read this topic and post the suggested DDS log.
