Updating issues

Recommended Posts

Since the last version update prior to this release, I cannot run a manual update...the updater just sits there with no activity in the progress bar. Automatic updates work every few days as I can track the date and version changes. I have done all of the recommended steps to no avail. I even sent in my log files, but have not heard anything back as of yet. I am using an F-Secure product customized for Charter as firewall and anti-virus. All necessary permissions and exclusions are duly entered. I have verified independently that there is no infection of any sort. There is either a problem with the software or a more recent update in XP is interfering with the manual updates. I say that because the issue developed for the first time immediately after install of the prior major version update. I installed the latest version today and have the same issue.

Hello and :welcome:

These are the steps for a proper clean re-install of Malwarebytes, try this and let us know if it helps....

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
