Is there an easy to find download link to the latest mbam-clean.exe file?

The only way i know of to find a link is to look through forum threads looking for it.

I did find a newer mbam-clean link in the forums and downloaded it.

The file size is different than the previous version i downloaded a few months ago.

FWIW:

Using auto update to install the version 1.61 update did not work for me with Win 7.

After the error, I ran mbam-clean, and installed version 1.61, so it is installed now.

The auto update error was:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

An error occured while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:

MoveFile failed; code 183.

Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Hi, DavidMbncus:

Sorry you had trouble auto-updating to version 1.61.

It appears that you have everything working OK now?

MBAM Clean Install Instructions (including the link to the mbam-clean tool :) ) are below, for your reference (and for others who might find this topic):

  • If you are running MBAM PRO, please be sure you have your license ID and key available (sent via email at the time of online purchase, or in the box).
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from HERE.
  • It will ask to restart your computer; please allow it to do so - this is very important!
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE.
  • If you are using MBAM PRO, you will need to reactivate (register) the program using the license ID & key.
  • Launch the MBAM program and (if you are using MBAM PRO) set the Protection and Registration.
  • Then go to the UPDATE tab (if not done during installation) and check for updates.
  • Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray (if using the PRO version).
  • Now set up any file exclusions, as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications, and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs HERE, or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Please let us know if everything is working properly, or if you still need assistance.

Thanks!

PS Here is the link for the KB article about using mbam-clean, which also contains the hyperlink to download the tool. :) Since I think this is a fixed, stable link, you could bookmark either the KB article or the download link, for future use.

Hi DaleDoc1,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, i re-installed MBAM with version 1.61 and it is working.

My question really is why is there not an easy place to download the mbam-clean.exe utility.

Your answer has the download link in this thread - typical for MBAM...

That seems to be the only way to download mbam-clean.exe - find a forum thread/post with the link.

Why doesn't Malwarebytes offer the link to this utility on a download page?

I can point to other vendors download page where their uninstall utility is easily available.

No need to search through their forum threads looking for the link.

Why does MBAM make it difficult to find the uninstall utility?

Make sense?

Thanks again,

David

Hi, again:

Alas, I'm just a home user, so I'll need to defer to the MBAM staff to answer your questions more directly & "officially".

However, I did edit my post to include a "PS" with a link to the KB article from the FAQ support page. :)

It, too, only contains the hyperlink for the direct download.

So, it appears that bookmarking the link(s) might be the best option for now.

(The mbam-clean tool itself doesn't change all that often with a new build. However, it would probably be best to use the link(s), rather than keeping the executable stored on your computer.)

I'm sure one of the pros will be able to explain this better than I can.

Thanks for your patience,

daledoc1

Just to add.... There is no need going through the forums in search for the tool, its listed in the FAQ and a simple google search for mbam-clean.exe points you right to the location where its found. The tool does change in size from time to time due to needed updates so that could explain why the one you had stored was a different size than the new one downloaded.

Thanks for the replies.

The FAQ is better than looking through threads.

But, I feel it is still buried in there, and not easily found if someone is looking for the uninstall utility.

I also wonder how many people would know to Google for "mbam-clean" if they need to uninstall MBAM.

Anyway - just me i guess...

Thanks again

also doing a google search for Malwarebytes uninstall tool yields you good results as does Malwarebytes uninstaller.... as far as posting a link in the main site, well thats up to the staff on that and I can not answer on that as I do not work for Malwarebytes.
