MBAM log and Hijack This Log, internet is inaccessible

Recommended Posts

My client has a fujitsu lifebook v series which has been determined to be at least plagued by malware and spyware, possibly something much worse. After a few hours of scans and attempted removals I have turned here.

The spyware/malware infection has blocked all access to the internet, but not to next work resources. I am still capable of computer to computer communications and in safe mode complete operation, but in a normal boot the internet connection fails in IE7, as well as it prevents any updates.

Malware Bytes and super anti-spyware have been run and both detected upwards of 40 files including Adware.mywebsearch and associated derivatives

I have not attempted a registry key removal, as I am not sure what the root cause of this is. Again no hijacking, a complete soft block of the internet connection has occurred.

Here are the most recent logs for malwarebytes and hijack this

An update:

According to an up to date scan with Avira PE classic, The Viral Infection appears to associate with "A0021501.exe" and avira reports that the recognition is "DR/BookedSpace.A.2"

After a manual review of the processes running under windows task manager i have also found three executables that are reported as system critical that are known to be associated caused by Worms and Trojans, they are:

Lsass.exe

Smss.exe

Csrss.exe

I have a found a removal tool through symantec for "Lsass.exe" which they say is frequently associated with the sasser virus family.

Any help would be wonderful. I have re scanned with MBAM today and it seems to fail at finding anything, though as stated the up to date version of Avira PE classic located the infected file "a0021501.exe" and recognition marker of "DR/BookedSpace.A.2"

I am including the new Mbam Log and Hijackthis log from today

  • Root Admin

Hi and Welcome to Malwarebytes. Please do not attach files unless requested to.

STEP 1

You should at least remove the Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 and install 9 then set it so the READER 9 opens all files from the Web.

Update available for vulnerability in versions 8.1 and earlier of Adobe Reader and Acrobat

STEP 2

With all other applications closed (Taskbar empty), open HijackThis again

and run Do a system scan only and place a check mark on the following items.

STEP 3

Please go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove and for now remove ALL versions of JAVA

When we're done you can go back and install the latest version but for now please do not install any.

Then run this tool to help cleanup any left over Java

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer (or other web browser) before continuing!***

  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location and post it back when you reply

Then look for the following Java folders and if found delete them.

C:\Program Files\Java

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Java

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sun\Java

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Java

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Sun\Java

STEP 4

:
how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

NOTE!!:

You must save and run
ComboFix.exe
on your DESKTOP and not from any other folder.

Also,
DO NOT
click the mouse or launch any other applications while this is running or it may stall the program

Additional links to download the tool:

Note:

The
Windows Recovery Console
will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • Click
    Yes
to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

  • Please post the
    C:\ComboFix.txt

    new HijackThis log
so we may continue cleaning the system.
