RpcSS remote procedure call ( RPC)

so well trying to figure out what caused my issue with winSAT.exe i came across this rpcss thing in the services listing.

anyway what exactly is it and is it needed.

same with SDRSVC which according to the services section of windows task manager is the windows backup

do i need that running since i dont back up windows at all wiht hte built in system.

iv also noticed since the winsat.exe ran iv got more processes running then normal

im used to task manager saying their any where from 65 to 68 running now 70+

any ideas if im just being paranoid or if their might be a problem

Since you're investigating services, Black Viper would likely prove useful. From here:

This service is rather vital. Practically everything depends on this service to be running. This is also one of the few services that you cannot disable via the Services MMC, nor can you change the state with a registry patch.
