Two Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folders

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware Pro is installed in this folder "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware"

But when I went in C:\Program Files (x86)\ I also found this folder "MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE" (capital letters) containing only this file "SSUBTMR6.DLL" (1 kb).

What is this other folder and this dll file?

Thanks.

Hi, until an MBAM engineer arrives,

I'm quite certain it's a legit file (quick Google search).

I'm on my 32-bit Win7 laptop at the moment (not my 64-bit desktop), but I also have this particular dll in my Program Files/MBAM folder, even on this rig.

I'm guessing that it installs as a 32-bit file, which is why you're seeing it in the Program Files (x86) folder on your 64-bit rig.

One of the more expert folks will likely have a more technical/satisfactory explanation,

daledoc1 :)

Greetings :)

I've seen this issue before and it was traced to the user's antivirus interfering with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware while our program was being installed. As I recall, the antivirus being used was AVG. It caused our installer to create an incorrect path ("MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE" instead of "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware") for one of our runtime files, ssubtmr6.dll.

As long as the program is working, you should be fine, but if you are concerned about the folder you may try uninstalling our program, deleting that extra folder, temporarily disabling your antivirus and then reinstalling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. That should allow the program to install without creating that extra folder.

Thanks a lot exile360 and daledoc1.

In fact, I had AVG Internet Security 2012 when I installed MBAM. Now, I removed AVG and replaced it with Norton 360.

So, do you advise me to uninstall my MBAM, delete every folder related to it in Program Files (x86) (you didn't told me that but I saw it in another post), and then reinstall it while disabling Norton?

If yes, my Pro liscence will still be active no?

Thanks.

Yes, that should correct the problem and yes, your PRO license will still be active :).
