Firefox 11 "Firefox Setup 11.0.exe" infected by "Trojan.FakeFirefox"

Recommended Posts

Nothing is wrong with my system and I have not had any issues.

I downloaded Firefox today from Mozilla's site. Not Cnet or some other site.

The file: "Firefox Setup 11.0.exe"

Malwarebytes popped up when trying to execute (thank god) that it was infected.

I have downloaded it with IE, Firefox 10, Chrome.

Evertime if scanned, it is infected.

I did not like the mirrors I was seeing at the domains of .nl and .de, so I found University of Maryland on their Mirror List. https://www.mozilla.org/community/mirrors.html

What is going on. Google returns NOTHING on a search for FF11 and this Trojan, except a single post on here. But that is not in regards to the download, as he things his system was already infected.

Hello and welcome:

This was a FP and was fixed with the last database update (2012.03.14.07).

Please update your MBAM and rescan - you should be OK after that (at least I was).

Let us know if this resolves your issue.

If not, we'll need to wait for assistance from one of the MBAM pros. :)

PS It's best to download Firefox ONLY from the official site: http://www.mozilla.o...irefox/central/
