american megatrens

Recommended Posts

you did not mention the model of the laptop or how old it is .

if this happened during the start up sequence :

american megatrends = AMI = the laptop bios .

for some reason the laptop wants to go into the bios during the start up sequence .

this can be for a few reasons . usually/hopefully the causes are simple :

bios back-up cell/battery is "dead" ... a new cell/battery is the answer .

*something* is wrong in the bios and it requires some attention .

if you are not computer wise , find a friend who is (the bios is not a place to be if you do not know what you are doing) .

check the bios ... make sure the real time clock and date is set correctly .

there will be some other settings ... use the "load default settings" .

save and exit .

the machine should now boot into windows .

shut the machine down and try again .

hopefully all is ok ... if it is not , and you are prompted to set the bios again , the back-up cell/battery may need replacing .

for more specific instructions go to the manufacturer's website .
