UAC - Malwarebytes wants to update your computer

When I try and open Malwarebytes from the TaskBar, or when it tries to do a scheduled scan or at other random times UAC is invoked looking for an admin password. Any ideas?

If you try to open the Free version then your system (UAC) should just ask "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your system" or words like this.

You can set a password to protect most items on your system, so unless you have set one, the UAC request is about all you should get.

Is this on the Free version or the Pro (paid) version of the program ?? Also what Operating System ??

It's the Pro version (1.60.1.1000) on Windows 7 Professional SP1.

I never used to keep asking for admin passwords.

Look here in the Registry and make sure that Malwarebytes is not listed.

Too difficult to say just by odd names as there are some software packages that use obfuscation to hide or otherwise protect their program. Removing a valid entry could cause problems.

Please give this a try and see if it makes any difference or not and let us know.

• Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  
• It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  
• After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
  
  • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    
  • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
    Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Reinstalled as above but MBAM still requests admin password when initiated from the task bar and at other times by itself (10:00 seems to be a favourite time)
