A quick question

Recommended Posts

I have been using Malwarebytes for a few weeks now and recently recommended it to a friend.

I just got a phone call with them chewing my ear off saying the Malwarebytes supposidly deleted their windows/system32 folder because it listed it as a virus and they clicked to remove and can now no longer start the comp in safe mode.

Is that even possible??? I just can't imagine this program deleting a whole windows folder like that.

Thank you for any replies in advance. :D

OK, I just spoke to our Lead Researcher, and he told me that MBAM is hard coded so that even if they added something to the database that would tell MBAM to delete the System32 directory, it would not do it. Also, on top of that, Windows would not allow the system files in that directory to be deleted, and therefore would not allow that directory to be deleted.

Basically, it is not possible for MBAM to delete the System32 directory.
