I consider worse than a Virus it's a fake antivirus, Still it's not clear for me how to the people got infected with this things if we have all levels of protection. Somebody has instructions of how to prevent this kind of infections or reduce the possibilities?

We have Firewall, Anti-spam and Virus Filter, Norton Antivirus, Malwarebytes and I have two down and eight infected this year. Any suggestions?

Hello, rarias, and welcome to MBAM:

In addition to NGHD3's suggestion and until an expert stops by...

Assuming you are running the PRO version of MBAM alongside your Norton and your firewall, and assuming you keep all of them updated, that ought to be a fairly robust combination.

Having said that, no security product or products can provide 100% protection, especially since malware is constantly changing and evolving.

99% of computer security for home users really boils down to the part of the computer betwen the chair and the keyboard (the user and his/her computing habits). ;)

You might find this article very helpful HERE.

Since this particular sub-forum is designated for issues installing and running MBAM, a moderator may wish to move this particular topic to the General Chat section.

Alternatively, if you think your computer is infected, then please read below if you would like assistance with malware detection and removal:

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING 3 OPTIONS:

OPTION 2: For paid users of MBAM PRO, free, one-on-one, expert assistance from MBAM support.

OPTION 3: Fee-based, one-on-one, expert assistance from Premium Support.

OPTION 1:

  • Please print out, read and carefully follow the instructions in the "I'm Infected - What Do I Do Now?" article.
  • If the infection has so crippled the computer that you cannot complete some or all of the steps, then just do the best you can and start a new topic as described below.

  • Then please start a new post in the Malware Removal Forum.
  • When starting your new post, please note the following:
  • Please do NOT post in a topic started by someone else, even if their problem sounds similar.
  • Please COPY/PASTE the requested logs into your post, rather than attaching them.
  • Under options, please be sure to select "track this topic" and "immediate email notification", so you'll know when a helper responds.

  • Please be patient - it may be 48 hours or more before a helper can assist you, especially when the forum is very busy.
  • Please do NOT "bump" your topic or reply back to it for at least 48 hours.
  • Doing so may cause your topic to be overlooked, as it will appear that you are already being helped.

Hi rarias -

As you seem to be talking about mutiple systems, is this a company / business type setup ??

If so, please refer to the post below from daledoc1 -

http://forums.malwar...ndpost&p=531837

Basically, please send an email to corporate-support@malwarebytes.org.

Also make sure you have malwarebytes.org and salesforce.com in your Safe Sender list in email.

Thank You -

Hello rarias,

ref "I have two down and eight infected this year"......The main question I'd be curious to have answered is: Is this on one single system? or multiple systems?

Personal-home system? or is this a company-network environment?

Kindly let us know.

As to prevention, we can point you to several good references. Though the most important are keeping Windows and all your applications up-to-date and user education, awareness, and safe internet use/ safety practices while browsing. And not downloading unknown apps/multimedia. And extreme care before clicking on just any web link.

  • 2 weeks later...

The problem with the updates in windows XP after internet explorer is they are making XP really slow. I'm agree in windows Vista and Windows 7 but I don't use updates for XP in any of my machines. I will deploy Chrome and MVPS hosts; is there any tool that we can use to test our security. that one in the "how I got infected in the first place" link it's not working.

If you want to move this topic to the general forums please do it, but please email me with the new link if you do it. So far I haven't received any email with any of your responses

Use MBAM (for one) to check your system.

You may also consider using Windows Defender Offline beta. That can be saved to & run from a USB-flash-pen drive (Just remember the tool is updated periodically, so you can not plan to have it current for more than a week or so)

You can do online scans at the following:

ESET Online Scanner

Panda ActiveScan

Trend Micro Housecall

F-Secure Online Scanner

As to email notice of replies, Look at the top right of the (your) topic on this site, and, click on the button Follow this topic

Make sure a valid email address is in your member profile on this forum.

P.S. As to your statement

I don't use updates for XP in any of my machines

You leave all those systems in a compromised state given they would be missing all fixes for vulnerabilities, Security fixes are released on a regular monthly (and sometimes more frequent) basis. Not a good practice. i_rolleyes.gif
