Hello and :welcome:

These are the correct steps for a clean install of Malwarebytes.

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Hi..First full scan just completed and it worked (All done to the letter of what ya gave me)..While no EUREKA's like with the Public Beta Version of 1.60.1 (It was 11 mins longer), I have still decided to accept and to use. Have always had great respect for MBAM and the only change to my schedule I will make is to run the full scan not so often and do more Quick scans instead

So thanks Mega for all the help !!!..Keep up the good work !!!!

Hi

Thought I would come in just once more on this topic as I know that other people have had similar probs

Yesterday although did as you advised totally, I also deleted several other on demand scanners, Hitman Pro. Eset Cloud scanner and Comodo System Cleaner ( not security as such, but is in real time I think), also stopped some Acer processes. During the scan ran all real time defence security measures (including firewall) in training mode.

Today with all turned on again another full scan was 20 minutes faster.

Once again, Ta much !!!

Bit embarrassing this but did eventually find out for certain what was the true basis of the problem.

It seems that MBAM and Comodo System Cleaner are totally incompatable. (Full Scan only). When I remove/delete CSC or CSU (Utilities as is now known by), MBAM scan runs perfectly. But on re-installing it hangs/stops about half way through. Know this is not a major prob but thought I would let you know anyway.

Sorry for all the trouble

Ta!!!

Hello TheShader2 and Welcome to the Malwarebytes forum.

What operating system are you using?

Are you using any other security software besides this?

Yep, my AV is CIS. also use SAS (Demand/Definition) and also Hitman Pro'

But only CSU seems to disrupt the full MBAM scan

As CSU is easy to delete and re-install I will just have to do that for the moment.

Just one further point is that this did not happen to any great extent in the Beta Version

Think I have solved this little prob at long last

1. Delete CSC...use Revo if ya have it but not necessary I think

2. Download and install what is now called CSU (version 4.0)

3. Follow procedure and run scan if necessary, but better to go to ignore (exclusion) in MBAM and include or add CSU.

4. Should run normally, did with me anyway

Luck !!
