Hello all,

I'm kinda computer illiterate and all so if things need to be explained. Explain them to me like I'm a 5th grader. :) I tried to log on/enter malwarebytes tonight and and I got a message that stated that the MBAM database was either missing or corrupted and it tells me to download a new copy. I click no and it says PROGRAM_ERROR_DATABASE (0, 2, SDKCREATE).

Everything else seems to be working normally. I can get on the internet, my firewall is up and all that. I have Mircrosoft Sec. Ess. and it seems to be up and running and working. I can log on and use SpyBot S/D as well. Windows update is working as well.

When it ask me to download a new copy, should I simply do that? Or is there possibly a bigger problem? Simply, what should I do? Is this some kind of virus?

Thank you very much.

For your info, if this stuff matters.

I'm running the free verison of MBAM.

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6, model WA779UA#ABA

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Please do the following and it should correct it:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
