gchq Posted February 7, 2012 ID:524485 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Hi thereI recommend MalwareBytes to all our customers, but then have to spend time helping them uninstall unwanted software and getting credit card charges refunded as the download goes to CNet and the procedure is, to put it mildly, confusing.Today it was ARO 2012. To their credit they responded very quickly and cancelled the charges. Is there a particular reason for not running the download from your own site as, I seem to remember, you used to? Moogle Posted February 9, 2012 ID:525107 Share Posted February 9, 2012 Hi gchq,Thanks for your feedback and we do act on these concerns. There are a few reasons why we use mirrors and do not host the downloads ourselves at this time. We have been working with Cnet on the appearance of the page based on complaints like yours. Last week we rolled out a new download page with them that does not have any ads, except one that is below the fold (and yes it may be that aggressively advertised ARO product). Please take a look at link below. Also I have already sent your comments directly to Cnet. It would really help if you could do the same and explain your situation as a tech and how many machines you see with this.http://cnet.co/ePmYS
gchq Posted February 9, 2012 Author ID:525178 Share Posted February 9, 2012 The problem seems to be they see this...and then this below itI think it is confusing by design - it would be quite easy to change the button text to 'Download Malwarebytes' or 'Download this advertisers product'
