Hello and welcome to MBAM:

If I understand your post correctly (forgive me if I do not), you were unable to perform an offline update of the MBAM database with the current version?

There was a recent update to the FAQ - Section A - Item #4 that includes an extra step:

ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet.

SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations.

  • Windows XP and 2000
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • Windows Vista and Windows 7:
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
    Note: Starting with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.60, you must also copy the file database.conf located within the Configuration folder which is in the same folder as rules.ref listed above.

You can also download a manual update from here - NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program and currently only works with versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware before 1.60

Apologies if I misunderstood your question (perhaps you were referring to a PROGRAM update, rather than a DATABASE update?).

@Diego

IF this system is running Windows XP, then try the MBAM version 1.60.1.1000

Download and run mbam-clean.exe from >> here <<

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus

If you need how-to guidance, see How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Next Download & SAVE the latest beta version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from >> here <<

Extract the contents of the Zip file to your Desktop. Then run it.

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration, if you have a license. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's >> here << or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Re-enable the anti-virus application that you turned off before.

Then retry the MBAM Update via the Update tab.

Hello and thanks for the welcome,

@ daledoc1

Sorry if I expressed myself poorly.

I didn't know that in version 1.60 no supports the manual update, eliminating the option that you provided, it hasn't way to update the database offline? This manual update (via installer) can't be used in versions 1.60 above?

@shadowwar

@Maurice Naggar

Thanks for attention.

Hello again, DyegoBustorff:

Alas, I don't speak a word of Portuguese, so I am still not sure what issue you are describing. :(

** Are you trying to get the current MBAM DATABASE onto an infected machine by using offline updates?

If so, this is still possible, even with the current version.

To do so, please follow the instructions in post #2 above or in the FAQ - Section A - Item #4.

There are also some tricks to get MBAM to run on an infected machine here.

** OTOH, if you trying instead to update the MBAM PROGRAM itself to the current version, especially if the computer is running Windows XP, then please follow the instructions of Maurice Naggar in post #4 above.

You may also find additional helpful information here.

I'm sorry if my suggestions aren't clear or helpful.

As I am just a home user, I will defer to the more expert advice from both Shadowwar and Maurice Naggar.

Thanks for your patience!

hi daledoc1,

Sorry for delay to respond

Yes, it's about the malware database.

I'm talking about it:

NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program and currently only works with versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware before 1.60

I wonder if the versions after 1.60 can be done by the update installer [ (Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Database) -> malware database ].

I'm sorry if my suggestions aren't clear or helpful.

As I am just a home user, I will defer to the more expert advice from both Shadowwar and Maurice Naggar.

Your suggestions helped to get more details about the malwarebytes anti-malware. :)

Thanks,

Dyego Bustorff.
