Hi all,

I'm hoping some of you can help. I'm running the laptop from safemode with networking at the moment and here's why.

When I start Vista it loads "normally" or at least it looks normal. It's not.

The Start Menu comes up but I can't actually use it. Click on it and nothing happens. It appears frozen.

The Network and Sharing doesn't work either. The laptop connects to the network you just have no idea it's actually doing it. The icon in the taskbar is apparently frozen and shows no connection. The Control Panel is also useles. Those boxes all freeze. I can't get into any system boxes at all. But I can double click the icons on my desktop and Firefox will open, so will Quickbooks and others.

In Safe mode everything works fine, nothing hangs. It's all good.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Minnie

That IS an odd bit of business.

Try this:

Stop and then restart the Explorer.exe process. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.

2. Click Task Manager.

3. Click the Processes tab.

4. Click the explorer.exe process.

5. Click End Process, and then click End process.

6. Click the Applications tab.

7. Click File, then New Task.

8. Type explorer in the Open box, and then click OK.

Let us know what you find out!

Regards -

FPC
