Malwarebytes is locks up when i run a scan

Downloaded Malwarebytes as AdAware and Spybot were not finding my problem. Was going great then locked up with no change for over 40 minutes. Was I not patient enough?

It's now froze on the quick scan.

Issues are my Mozilla Firefox won't work at all but my Thunderbird works. Constant pop ups for fake anti-everything ware and worst of all, while using internet explorer it will randomly start opening new windows one right after another repeatedly.

I'll take any suggestions.

I've got exactly the same issue on two separate computers. :)

It appeared to be working fine for the 7-10 days that I've had it installed. It started playing up yesterday (27th January) and got worse today. Is it something to do with the updates?

My PC seems slow also since I've had the issue with MBAM. Programs freeze and take ages to wake up.

Can anyone help?? :)

Mine was doing what jackaws said. BUT.... it was on quickscan and I thought it was stuck again (was running it again) and it started moving again. It was working the whole time (3rd time is the charm?) but seemed like it was froze again. Not as long this time - only 28 minutes - but when it started working again it flew through. I removed the malware, rebooted and voila' it's all good again. :)
