Hello and :welcome:

I would have to agree with you, I have not found one product that is as effective as Malwarebytes. I have used many. That being said, no one product is 100% effective at protection or removal of Malware. Sometimes we need to use more than one product to remove infections. As for protection you have to ensure you have a good antivirus software installed along with Malwarebytes PRO.

To be completely honest, this is probably the worst place to ask, it is the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware support forum after all, and while I'm certain that no one here would wish to deliberately deceive you, it's also generally true that most of the users who frequent this forum are themselves Malwarebytes users who believe in the capabilities of the product, so their opinions and views may not be completely objective.

That being said, if you would like to see some comparisons and perhaps get some varied opinions on Malwarebytes and other products, there are plenty of good sources of information. For a forum which specializes in PC security, including a wide range of software chosen by its users, I'd highly recommend Wilders Security Forum. They have a very long standing reputation in the security community and a very wide range of users that use different security setups and software configurations.

If you want some detection comparisons with Malwarebytes against the detection rates of other products, you can take a look at some of the comparison tests done by Malware Research Group. They do independent testing of various security products against current, live infections to see how their detection rates are.

I have tried several other Anti-Malware programs and Malwarebytes is my favorite. I am not saying it is the best because in the security world there is good and better but no best. I personally never used another program like Malwarebytes that was as effective. Malwarebytes and the Team at Malwarebytes got it right. :)

When going to answer this question, I know my opinion is going to be biased so I answer it with someone else' opinion. If you look on the left hand side on the CNET page, you will see that we are ranked #1 for Spyware Removers. Also, the ammount of downloads of our product compared to the other spyware removers available is not even a comparison.

This is taken directly from the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware download page on CNET here.

  • 2 years later...

Too bad MBAM fails to open almost on a daily basis (in which case it needs to be totally re-installed) and the chameleon feature does nothing in helping to get it open again. If this is caused by malware, MBAM isn't detecting it at all. Also the blocking notifications are unbearably annoying, especially that the OPTION HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT!!!

If you ask me, almost any other av could be made better than MBAM (not that they are), because the program is just falling flat these days and not living up to its reputation at all, at the very least in my experience.

If you have a problem, please create a new thread specific to YOUR problem and not-rehash an old thread.

Since Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) is a non-viral anti malware solution and not an "anti virus"  (presuming you meant "anti virus" when you wrote "av") your assertion falls flat.

Please start a new thread about your problem so you can get it sorted out.

TIA

Hello and :welcome: , @Raztaman:

This topic is over 2 years old and is based on a very outdated program version.

For the record: notifications are currently "all or none" (enabled or disabled) in version 2.

More granular user control will be forthcoming in a future release.

Moreover, the notifications mean that MBAM is doing its job -- if you are seeing a LOT of them (especially IP blocks with no browser open) it could be a sign of infection.

HAVING said all that....
Each computer is unique.
Problems that sound "the same" most often are not.
The same is true for solutions.
They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we try to stick to "one user per topic", especially since this topic is so very old.

If you would like help, please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using this clickable cjfj.png button.
The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide you with individual help to get you up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Sorry for double post. I havent opened another topic but I posted in a more recent topic before posting here. Just annoyed that such a highly regarded program would go backwards I guess, sorry.

No problem.

I understand that you are frustrated.

It's just that it creates clutter and confusion -- and even the Feb 2014 thread applies to an older, now-outdated version of the program. ;)

If you would like support or assistance with installing or running MBAM, please do feel free to start a new, separate topic here in this section.

If you would like to provide feedback, then the best place for that is the "Comments and Suggestion" area of the forum >>here<<.

As I mentioned, more granular user control over notifications will be added in a future version.

And the notifications are there for a reason -- if you are seeing a LOT of them (especially IP blocks with no browsers open) it could be a sign of infection.

If that's the case, then I would suggest getting an expert to help with checking your system.

To do that, please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

A malware analyst will guide you through the scanning and cleanup process.

Thanks,

P.S. The mod team might split off all of your posts today into one thread, just for you for personal attention. No worries. ;)

I hope there is a better product out there than this, I really do, as now I am tired of all the updating problems, etc etc...  Just my opinion but they have known of this problem for some time now, months and it is still not right.  I think I am going to remove it and move on now, I have fussed with this quite long enough.

Hi, @ForestElf:

This thread is more than 2 and half years old and relates to a much older version of the program. :(

So, any issue reported here would not really be relevant to the current program version.

It also looks as if a staff member from the QA team and a Trusted Advisor are working with you in your own topic here: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/154540-will-not-update-have-to-fix-daily/

In order to minimize confusion for everyone, it would be advisable if you would continue to work with @Jekko and @Firefox over in that thread.

I'm sure they will be more than happy to help you sort out your issues.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Sure.  Many posters here have valid points.  Many of those that have complained about v2.0 have an honest gripe.  That does not mean one should rehash an old thread about a different subject matter and hijack for their purpose.  There has to be some kind of order.

pcallah1 asked a question and it was related to an older version of MBAM in regards of other possible anti malware solutions.   Raztaman had ability to start his/her own thread but chose not to.  Anybody can express dissatisfaction but they shouldn't hijack someone else's thread to do so.
