daledoc1 #2 Posted January 15, 2012 Hi, AlexC:Please see the FAQ - Section A - Item #4 about updating offline. Also, you can also download a manual update from here.NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the programISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet.SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations.Windows XP and 2000C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.refWindows Vista and Windows 7:C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.refNote: Starting with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.60, you must also copy the file database.conf located within the Configuration folder which is in the same folder as rules.ref listed above.HTH,daledoc1

octy40 #5 Posted August 14, 2015 Hello - I've tried both the manual update and the running the offline updater, but both seem to not be working as the version of mbam doesn't change. Anyone experiencing a similar issue?
David H. Lipman #6 Posted August 14, 2015 You have replied to a post that was last made on; 15 January 2012 - 08:08 PM It is frowned upon to resurrect an old thread if you were not the forum member that started it. Updates - These are signature files that are produced multiple times per dayUpgrades - This refers to to the version of the Malwarebytes' program and occurs much less often such as 3 or 4 or more times per year. For example from MBAM v2.6.x to v2.8.x
daledoc1 #7 Posted August 14, 2015 Hi: Hello - I've tried both the manual update and the running the offline updater, but both seem to not be working as the version of mbam doesn't change. Anyone experiencing a similar issue? Yep, as David aptly pointed out, this thread is carbon datable. The program version and the methods for offline updating have both changed significantly since 1912 2012. The offline updating was originally intended as a rescue method for getting definitions onto a heavily infected computer with no internet access. It has largely been supplanted by other technology, such as Chameleon. And the offline database will always be somewhat outdated, compared to the versions available via the program auto-updater. If, however, you would like to use the offline method, here is the current advice: There is a new mbam-rules link: =>HERE<=The link will download 1 zip file, where the name of the file is mbam-rules-YYYY-MM-DD.zipThere are 2 files included in the zip file now:o Mbam-rules.exeo Mbam2-rules.exeThey are specific to the version, so mbam-rules is for any MBAM 1.x installation, whereas mbam2-rules is for any MBAM 2.x installation. If you need help with malware removal, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers. It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the suggested, preliminary steps to expedite the process.A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue. Thanks,

AdvancedSetup #10 Posted April 30, 2018 English translation of above. Quote Sorry for any errors, I'm using Google Translate. These instructions are for an older version of Malwarebytes and do not work for version 3. Currently, there is no way to manually download the latest database definitions for Malwarebytes 3.We have seen reports from many Russian members that updating and licensing are not working correctly, and we believe that this is due to the fact that all new blocks of websites have been created in Russia. Unfortunately, the only way to use a proxy server or a VPN server. I'm going to close this topic though as this is a reply to one that is 3 years old. If you still need help please create a new topic. Thank you
