Ammyy Admin Scam

Recommended Posts

Hey,

So our family computer fell victim to the Ammyy scam which has been fairly well reported on ; telephone call, downaloaded Ammyy Admin program, gave out user ID, and only then aborted call. My father said the program was only open and running for a few minutes before he pulled the connection.

I've read a lot of posts on this program and it all the advice seems to be quite user specific. Can anyone help? We're not that good with this stuff.

We're running Windows 7 home.

What I've done so far :-

1. Disconnected computer from internet

2. Closed the Ammyy Dmin program

3. Ran Malwarebytes (free trial version)

4. Ran general windows virus scanner

5. Deleted the saved .exe file which was downloaded from the site

6. Exhaustively searched for the Ammyy Admin program in a wide variety of locations on the PC.

When the computer is on it shows no sign of the program in taskmanager, programs or processes.

Is it gone? Or is there likely to be other viruses/spyware involved?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
