License Keys

After uninstalling a 2009 version of MB I bought and downloaded the current version of MB Pro but when I went to register the current version I did not have a register button. I did see that the old license key was found during the install as I can see the beginning of the old ID displayed. Will this make any difference for the performance and available features of the new installation or is this just a cosmetic issue?

Consumer licenses are "lifetime", so (as a home user), I'm not sure why you are experiencing difficulties with registration.

As far as the new version, yes, the current version, 1.60 offers many performance and stability features and improvements, as noted in the Changelog.

I would suggest that you try the following clean upgrade procedure:

  • If you are using MBAM PRO, be sure to have your license ID and key handy first. This will be in an email sent to you from the reseller, Cleverbridge, if you purchased online.
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here.
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so (very important!).
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here.
    Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license ID & key you were sent via email, if you are using the PRO version.
  • Launch MBAM and set the Protection and Registration (if using the PRO version).
  • Then go to the UPDATE tab (if not done during installation) and check for updates.
  • Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray (if using the PRO version).
  • Now set up any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications. Then restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs here, or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
