Hi Gang,

I seem to have been infected with the XP Security 2012 virus this morning. I see continual popups and toolbar bubbles warning me of various bogus dangers to my system. I have intermittent net access (it is occasionally redirecting my Firefox and IE browsers - but not always).

I have attempted to remove it with the Norton Power Eraser in safe mode - but the virus prevents that from running.

I have run the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (ARO 2011) scan, and though it found many issues with my registry, it did not find or remove any viruses.

I ran DDS, and have attached dds.txt and attach.txt here.

I'm guessing that this virus is being modified continually to keep ahead of standard fixes. My machine only started to show symptoms this morning, so I'm hoping that means that I was only infected this morning - and that it has not been key-logging me for a week, quietly. I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials, BTW.

thanks for your help,

Chris
