So, I've been using Malwarebytes, issue free, since September. Then I start having issues today out of the blue. First I get an SDK error when it tries to start up, read a post here I found through google, which was rather obscure. So I think to myself, w/e, I'll just reinstall. I find the dl link in my email, dl it, install, and it starts up this time. Except, when I try to enable the protection module I get another error...

PROGRAM_ERROR_PROTECTION_MODULE (1072, 0, ProtectionEnable)

The specified service has been marked for deletion.

Up until yesterday malwarebytes was working fine. In fact, I remember it blocking a few sites while playing Eve Online which I think were classified as malicious due to having previously been compromised at some point. Eve has quite the community...anyhow, how do I fix this? Or did the client just get broken with some update that got through testing?

OS: W7-64 Ultimate. Nvidia display driver 285.79.

Greetings :)

Please do the following, it should correct the issues:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
