Hi everyone, I am currently having a problem with my Internet connection. When I shutdown my system (not restart) and then start it up it does not connect automatically to the Internet and I have to go into Network settings and acquire it manually. This has only started happening in the last few days. I have scanned my computer with MBAM Pro, Avast and ESET online, all were clean. My PC is running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium with SP1.

I'm probably just missing something basic and any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Greetings :)

Please open Internet Explorer and click on Tools>Internet Options. From there, go to the Connections tab and click on the LAN settings button. Make certain that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked. If it is not, then check that box and click on Apply then click OK.

Shut down your computer and boot it up again to verify that it now connects automatically.

Are you using a wireless router to connect to the internet? If so, it's possible that your connection isn't remembering to automatically connect to your wireless network.

It might also be the power settings for your connection (though this is doubtful, as that hardware should not go into a sleep state just after boot). You can check your Device Manager and look at your Network Adapters and verify their power settings to make sure that Windows is not set to power down those devices to save power.

That's about all I can think of. If that doesn't solve it then hopefully someone else who is more knowledgeable will come along and assist.

Your DHCP service is probably not functioning correctly.

Please run the following scanner and post back the logs

Download
DDS
and save it to your desktop

Disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click
dds.scr
to run the tool.

When done, the
DDS.txt
will open.

Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

  1. DDS.txt

  2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply:
    DDS.txt
    and
    Attach.txt
