Is it a false positive or an actual virus threat? In Windows 7, I choose to hide my desktop icons.Yes, that's precisely what this detection is (which is what the researcher in that post I linked to above was explaining). We detect this setting because some infections are also known to hide a user's icons by changing this setting, but since you set it that way yourself, the best thing to do would be to have Malwarebytes ignore the item.
