Since a week I have a new Desktop, PC Win 7 - 64 bit. Prior to that I had an XP Desktop with MBAM Pro on it. Not using XP anymore but the license ID and Key # are still on the latter which the IT Tech did not remove. Luckily I saved the license # in a printout. Invoice date was Nov 30, 2010.

Questions:

1) Can I use my license on my new desktop?

2) Does MBAM PRO work along side the 2 software: Avast! free and Windows Defender?

TIA

Does MBAM PRO work along side the 2 software: Avast! free and Windows Defender

Works great on my WIN 7 x64 installation. Running Win Defender real time and Avast 6.0.1367 with no problems. Just make sure you add the exclusions for Avast in MBAM Pro and MBAM Pro in Avast as given in the FAQS section.

1) Yes you may. If your other computer has not been reformatted and is still operational you'll need to do the following to migrate your license so that you don't have issues:

  • On your old computer, download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • On your new desktop, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

2) Yes, it should work just fine alongside both Windows Defender and Avast! Antivirus. Just be sure to set exclusions for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware's files in Avast! as per the FAQ I linked to above.

Thank you for your replies. See, the crunch is that my old XP desktop is stored away in our locker because it won't work anymore. Sorry I should have explained it better in my 1st post. I downloaded MBAM free the 1st day after Win 7 was set up and files transferred from XP to Win 7 by an IT Tech. Forgot to tell the IT Tech that I had MBAM PRO. Bummer! :(

That's no problem, if the computer is out of commission then there's no license violation and you'll be fine :).
