Hi, friends.

I am a Malwarebytes' Antimalware user since June 2010 (reference nr. 12716603, 15/6/2010, Cleverbridge). I never faced any problem at all, but yesterday I downloaded the new update (data base v 2011.12.2405 mbam 1.60.01800) and suddenly the mbam stop working. Every time I try to configure, a message : Run-time error '383' Text property is read-only. Please, let me know what is the meaning of this message and how can I restore my mbam.

Thank you and best wishes for the New Year.

  • Root Admin

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

I followed your helpful instructions and my MBAM works perfectly again. I do thank you very much!

P.S. By the way, I use the Avira Internet Security 2012. I suppose there are no compability problems with MBAM. Your opinion? I use the pro versions of both of them and I left the default values - especially for Avira - as I am not accustomed to special setings for experts.

Thank you again,
