After upgrading yesterday I went thru with the same problem as some of the other WinXP users and uninstalled and reinstalled till wouldn't crash at launch.(Win XP home Sp3 NO antivirus and NO 2nd party firewall)

After running scan 6 security threats show up as expected.(Update,Firewall,Antivirus DisableNotify etc.)

Before running scan today I checked to see first if the 6 were listed in the ignore list tab and they were.

After running scan they showed up again as threats and I put them into the ignore list again.

Will I have to this every time I run the scan??

Greetings :)

Please do the following, it should correct the issues:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

The format for our Ignore List changed, and the leftover Ignore List from the previous version is likely what is causing the problem. The above procedure will clear out the Ignore List completely, and once you do another scan with 1.60 after reinstalling it, it should then retain your ignored items.

You're welcome :)

This is STILL HAPPENINGon 2 laptops configured the same.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Uninstalled and reinstalled just as directed on both laptops numerious times.

It seems the new build is not working in WIN XP SP-3 as most of the difficulties are WIN XP related.

ANOTHER THING OF MAJOR CONCERN:

I discovered the chameleon.exe program and ran it.

It then corrupted all the passwords in my Outlook Express email program and I had to reenter all of them.(12 different email addresses)

After I checked for mail again I had to reenter the passwords a second time and knew that the passwords were not being remembered so I tried to do a system restore.

The last 2 recent restore points where corrupted and would not restore.

Going back 6 weeks it finally restored.

The old copy of malwarebytes would not launch (error came up) so I uninstalled it and now feel unprotected.

By the way I was using the free version.

When will this issue be fixed ???

I'm not aware of any incompatibilities with Outlook and Chameleon. Chameleon is only a launcher for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it won't touch Outlook nor any of its settings/files.

If you're still having the problem where MBAM won't launch, then please contact support@malwarebytes.org and they will assist you directly with diagnosing the issue and getting the problem corrected.
