New Version huh? Did the Marketing Department have anything to do with this?

Can we have the old version back please so that millions - yes millions - of your users don't waste any more of their own or their companies time. (We ALL know about the disclaimers on Software Licenses)

And, it's not just XP users suffering a time, protection and money loss in spite of their appearing to be this Board's majority posters.

Also, some of the suggested resolutions are seriously worrying in as much as the "uninstall, reboot, run a cleaner, reboot, get your License Key and ID, Re-install and, let us know" software manufacturing patter goes. What's worrying is that this doesn't appear to be working all the time thus leading to more wasted time and money.

In addition, preventing Acronis working appears to be a throwback to the early days when MBAM prevented MS Backup from working too.

Did anyone read yesterday's article on Slashdot about American Software? The title read "Why American Corporate Software Can No Longer Be Trusted "

Anyways, can we have a guaranteed fix or solution for this please. Our computers are messed up.

thanks.

Hello Kernel,

Please Download OTL to your Desktop:

To Use OTL:

  • Get OTL From
HERE
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
OTL should now start. Change the following settings
Change Drivers to All
Change Standard Registry to All
Under File Scans, change File age to 30
Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt (first run only). These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please attach these 2 files in your next reply.

Thank you.

Thanks AdvancedSetup, that solved my problem which was identical to that of the Kernel.

And I am dismayed that this problem occurred and the time it took me to fix. I run as a "Standard" user and had to keep swapping back between that and my Administrative user to get details (like my MBAM keys) etc; this really was a PITA and the problem and solution seemed very un-MBAM like; I've come to expect better from you guys.

All in all from "oh MBAM has an update, let's just do it now" to identifying and solving the problem took over an hour!

Also the link is to a problem relating to Win XP and it would be good to clearly indicate that the problem is not limited to XP; I'd seen the solution before this thread, but it was this thread that confirmed that the solution worked for Win 7 also.

I just ran into this on Windows 7 Pro X64. Ran mbam-clean, rebooted, downloaded and installed the latest Pro version, mbam-setup-1.60.0.1800.exe and installed it. When I try to register it won't accept my id/key.

What do I do now?

Greetings :)

Please contact support@malwarebytes.org and they will assist you directly with getting the product registered. If need be, you may also contact Cleverbridge and they can look up your purchase and verify that you have the correct ID and Key.

Very un-MBAM-like. Can anyone tell us if an updated installer or updated v1.6 will be released soon that would avoid the whole hoop-jumping thing to get from 1.5 to 1.6?

Unfortunately, the real issue has to do with the uninstaller for 1.51.2 sometimes leaving files in place after uninstalling it during the upgrade install, that's the reason that most of these issues are fixed by running mbam-clean.exe, rebooting, and then installing version 1.60 fresh.

Most of the issues that have not been resolved (the freeze on boot issues) have to do with an incompatibility with Zone Alarm, which our QA team is looking into.

I checked with ZA and there isn't even a mention of it.

If it is any help....my recent extensive problems with ZA were mostly related to ZA corrupting downloads. It could possibly help to turn off ZA during the whole install process. The best solution I found for all my problems was to switch to Kaspersky PURE and get rid of ZA.

As for the MBAM issues, I learned from many ZA update problems over the years to never do an upgrade on the first days...wait for any problems to be revealed. Thus, I have MBAM set to NOT automatically install an upgrade and I never installed this upgrade.

My problem , not accepting id/key was a self inflicted wound.

I was using the forum id/key instead of the Cleverbridge one. Used the right key and all is well.

I couldn't get back here last night, browser kept timing out. Was there a forum problem?

Excellent, I'm glad you were able to get it working, and thanks for letting us know :)

Yes, the forum was down for a while last night.

Thanks, exile - running mbam-clean, rebooting and installing 1.60 fresh solved my problem of the application immediately crashing under Windows 7 64-bit!
