Hello:

Upon a receiving a Malwarebytes message on the Task Bar that an update was ready for installation, I proceeded with the update. However, I got an error message that the installer could not delete mbam.exe. I clicked to abort the update with the intention of stopping Antu-Malware, before running the installer again; however, the Anti-Malware application was apparently deleted from the Start Menu (all programs) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware folder, which displays "(empty)". When I click on the Task Bar icon for Anti-Malware the application will not run and nothing is displayed. In the meantime MBAMservice and mbamgui.exe are shown to be running in Task Manager. My OS is Windows 7 64 bit with latest updates.

Hello benfrank,

Go ahead and follow the instructions below for a clean install.

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and register. Make sure to cut and paste the ID and Key into the proper fields(free users can skip).

[*]Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

This should take care of the issue.
