I get a lot of computers infected with the Vista Antivirus 2012 family of infections. Sometimes I can follow these instructions to remove them: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-antispyware-2012. Sometimes I have to reinstall the Operating System.

My question is this... In the Profiessional version of Malwarebytes, does it protect against this specific type of malware from infecting the computer? I'm looking for a proactive solution to this virus.

Welcome atstech -

99% of the time Malwarebytes Pro version coupled with a decent Antivirus program will prevent this.

You may ask why I said 99% of the time, because there is no 100% perfect program to prevent any infection.

However Malwarebytes-Antimalware Pro version is the most proactive solution to your listed problem.

Infections will change on a daily basis, so the Malwarebytes program is updated several times every day.

If you still have this problem, please repost in the Malware Removal area and you should not need to reinstall again.

Please be patient as it is the Christmas break and many helpers are volunteers that give their time freely to assist.

Read the heading over the Malware Removal area, and please post any logs requested for diagnostics.

You may note that Grinler (BleepingComputer guide) states -

Tools Needed for this fix: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

EXTRA -

We don't work on malware removal in this part of the forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then create a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one on one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

If you prefer to be assisted via email you may contact support@malwarebytes.org and one of our support staff members will assist you directly.
